Pensar – Journal of Legal Sciences provides immediate, free open access to all of its content as a means of promoting the democratization of knowledge.

Copyright and full publishing rights

Authors fully retain copyright and full publishing rights over their works published in Pensar – Journal of Legal Sciences, without any restriction.

Upon submission and acceptance of the article for publication, authors agree that the text shall be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) and grant Pensar a non-exclusive license, valid for an indefinite period, to publish, reproduce, disseminate and preserve the article in any media, formats and databases, with Pensar identified as the original publisher.

The non-exclusive license granted to the journal does not limit the full exercise of publishing rights by the authors, who retain the right to republish, redistribute, deposit in institutional, thematic or personal repositories, translate, adapt, cite and disseminate their works in any other media, formats or languages, without prior authorization from the journal, provided that the original publication in Pensar is cited and the assigned Crossref DOI is preserved.

Terms of the CC BY 4.0 license

Under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, third-party use is permitted, including for commercial purposes, provided that:

  • Authorship is appropriately attributed;
  • The source is indicated (original publication in Pensar);
  • Citation data is preserved;
  • Any modifications made to the content are reported.

Self-archiving and repository deposit

Pensar's self-archiving policy is registered in Open Policy Finder (Jisc), the successor of Sherpa/Romeo, and also in Diadorim (IBICT), the Brazilian directory of editorial policies.

The journal allows self-archiving without embargoes. Authors may freely deposit any version of their works in institutional, thematic or personal repositories:

  • Preprint — manuscript prior to peer review;
  • Postprint — manuscript accepted after peer review (Accepted Manuscript);
  • Published version (Version of Record) — final PDF published by Pensar.

Deposit does not require prior authorization from the journal, provided that the original source is cited and the assigned Crossref DOI is preserved.

Digital preservation

Articles published in Pensar are digitally preserved through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), an international preservation network operated by the Public Knowledge Project, ensuring permanent access to the contents.

No-fee policy

The journal does not charge any fees for submission, evaluation, processing (APCs) or publication of manuscripts. Access to content is entirely free and gratuitous, in line with the principles of open science and the Diamond model of open access.
