Abstract

The present research aims to analyze the behavior of entrepreneurs in situations where failures occur, as well as to investigate whether such failures are influenced by affectivity and/or cognition. This investigation is based on an exploratory qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews using a semi-structured script, conducted with nine entrepreneurs. The analysis of the results
was performed using the Atlas.ti software, and the data were grouped into three categories: entrepreneurial behavior, entrepreneur
failures, and affective and cognitive behaviors of the entrepreneur that influenced the failures. The results show that both affectivity and cognition influence the behavior of entrepreneurs, leading to failures. It can be concluded that entrepreneurs should learn to deal with affective and cognitive behaviors to minimize the risk of business failures.
