Abstract

Job insecurity is characterized by the fear and anxiety of losing one’s job, as well as the feeling of helplessness in the face of the impossibility of changing this reality. This systematic review aimed to identify how the conceptual structure of job insecurity is characterized, while proposing new research directions. The study was conducted using the Web of Science and Scopus databases, which, after applying certain filters, yielded 277 articles, analyzed through the bibliometrix and shiny packages, forming the final sample. The results allowed for mapping the profile of the publications, presenting an overview of the scientific production on the subject from 1979 to 2024. The analysis of these results was divided into two research topics: i) identification of bibliometric indicators, encompassing the profile of publications on job insecurity and the conceptual structure of the field of job insecurity; ii) the proposal of a research agenda with new paths to follow. It is expected that, with this study, new developments can be achieved, starting from the current state of the art to advance knowledge by proposing new insights that leverage the theme of job insecurity.
