This work aims to characterize the health conditions of self-employed workers compared to the health conditions of salaried employees in the private sector. The research has a quantitative approach, using descriptive statistics based on the National Health Survey data (PNS – 2019) from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The health conditions of self-employed workers stand out in this research, the most vulnerable group of entrepreneurs, considering that most of them work alone or with the help of family members, they have long working hours, pressure with deadlines, stress, and not everyone joins Social Security. The results indicate that self-employed workers have higher rates of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and depression, as well as worse health perception when compared to private sector employees.
