This study aimed at understanding the perceptions and feelings of the health professionals who take part in the Family Health Programme – FHP, in Maracanaú-CE. It was a qualitative research which used the phenomenological referential. Eighteen health professionals were interviewed in the period of September, 2002 to August, 2003. The main issues approached were the individual representation of FHP, the team work, their prospects and the degree of satisfaction. By means of a comprehensive analysis of the statements, the family link and the commitment were pointed out, as well as the health education as the main issues of the FHP; the team work inner to the FHP showed to be fundamental for the development of the programme activities. As worrying matters, the health professionals claimed for better working conditions and job stability. It is worth stating that the results of this study were sent to the managers in order to improve or solve these demands. The most part of these workers are satisfied and their expectations are optimistic and it shows that working by means of this strategy requires comportamental changes and compromising, which is a challenge to overcomeDownloads
