Having as theoretical referential the researches of Dominguez, Deliberato and Rouquayrol, a description of the physiotherapist’s performance was accomplished in the Family Health Program (FHP) developed in the municipal district of Sobral-Ceará, emphasizing the needs of the special populations in relation to that professional’s preventive intervention. The research was of a descriptive, observational and transversal character, with a quantitative approach, including all of the FHP’s physiotherapists members in Sobral (n=4). The results of these experience points out that the community‘s access to the physiotherapy service was made easier thus promoting satisfaction for the benefited population. However, there are obstacles like: insufficient number of professionals, structural and material difficulties, ignorance of the population and of other professional managers in respect of the functions developed by the physiotherapist. It is concluded that it is important to guarantee active participation the community, social groups, other sectors of the economy and particularly of other health services, specially of the Hospital, that will have the responsibility of assisting urgencies, consultations, internments and also diagnosis’ investigations.Downloads
