Abstract

Objective: To describe the implementation of support groups for mothers with hospitalized babies in a reference maternity hospital in Manaus/AM, Brazil. Data synthesis: A descriptive study in the form of an experience report, based on 26 weekly sessions conducted between January and June 2019, with an average duration of 60 minutes, led by maternity psychologists. The sessions provided emotional support and information to mothers, fostering their emotional well-being and preparation during their babies’
hospitalization. The space allowed for the expression of feelings, exchange of experiences, and strengthening of bonds among participants. Conclusion: The groups proved to be an effective strategy for providing emotional support to mothers of premature babies, and their expansion in health services is recommended.

Maura Nunes Pimentel de Carvalho, Universiade Federal do Amazonas, Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil

Graduação e licenciatura em Psicologia pela Universidade Estadual do Piauí (UESPI, 2011), além de bacharelado em Enfermagem pela Faculdade de Ensino Superior de Floriano (FAESF, 2009). É especialista em Saúde Pública (FEBAC, 2010), Gestão em Saúde (UESPI, 2010) e Psicologia Hospitalar (Conselho Federal de Psicologia, 2018). Mestre em Psicologia pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM, 2021), atualmente realiza doutorado em Saúde Pública na Amazônia, com abordagem no cuidado à saúde de mulheres negras. Atua no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) há mais de 8 anos, sendo tutora do Método Canguru na Atenção Básica e Hospitalar. Suas áreas de pesquisa incluem saúde de mulheres negras, racismo institucional e interseccionalidade.

Denise Machado Duran Gutierrez, Universidade Federal do Amazonas, Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil

Graduação em Psicologia pela Universidade de São Paulo (1983), Mestrado em Psicologia da Saúde pela katholieke Universiteit van Brabant (1993) e Doutorado em Saúde da Mulher e da Criança pelo Instituto Fernandes Figueira - FIO CRUZ, R.J. (2009). Atualmente é professora associada da Universidade Federal do Amazonas. Tem experiência na área de Psicologia, com ênfase em Psicologia Clínica, atuando principalmente nos temas: cuidados em saúde, gênero e geração. Exerce o cargo de Coordenadora de Tecnologia Social no Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA/Manaus) onde atua desenvolvendo projetos de inclusão social através da socialização do conhecimento científico. É autora de quatro livros na área da interface família - saúde e de educação, bem como de diversos artigos nos tópicos: suicídio entre idosos, relações de gênero e saúde, relações familiares e saúde, cuidados da saúde na família.
