Abstract

Oliver Twist and the establishment of a Discourse on the Restoration of an increasing social problem: the ethnical, religious and cultural prejudice. The results show that Eisner’s work set up intertextual relations with that of Oliver Twist, providing a recontextualization of that work since it includes the voices silenced by Dickens, represented either by verbal or non-verbal language. It is worth mentioning that Fagin the Jew, as the result of a discourse practice of literary intervention, promotes a discursive change when it subverts the judgmental discourse into a parody devoted to restoration.
