Abstract

Objective: To verify the level of consciousness of civil construction workers, regarding the benefits of labor gymnastics (LG). Methods: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study of a quantitative and qualitative nature, involving 26 volunteer workers of a total of 30 workers who joined in the sessions of LG at the studied building construction company. The LG program already existed for three years. A questionnaire with 7 closed questions and an opened one was applied, directed to the aims of the study. Results: The obtained data showed to be a positive response regarding the practice of LG, as seen from the assiduity of the workers to the sessions. Regarding the qualitative approach, two categories aroused: the concern of the company on its worker and the beneficial aspects of LG. Conclusion: We conclude that, in the studied sample, the intransitive consciousness was surpassed and greatly inclined for a transitivity, which is the first step for a critical consciousness.
