Journal History

The Technology Journal is headquartered at the University of Fortaleza – Edson Queiroz Foundation and was born out of the desire to disseminate the scientific production of the institution itself and the state of Ceará. Established in 1980, the journal belongs to the Center for Technological Sciences and initially aimed to promote technical-scientific studies developed within this center. Originally published biannually, it featured concise articles for accessible reading, providing general information about the university and the technological development of the region, including advertising announcements from the technological sector.

In its inaugural edition, the Technology Journal featured six scientific articles alongside advertising information. News articles covering regional sectors such as CREA, the Nucleus of Technology (Nutec), and the establishment of the University of Fortaleza were also included. At that time, the university housed four centers: Center for Natural Sciences (CCN), Center for Technological Sciences (CCT), Center for Health Sciences (CCS), and Center for Humanities (CCH), along with the Nucleus of Integrated Activities (NAI), proposing training, research, and community service programs.

Over the years, the journal underwent redesigns. Until volume 10 in 1989, it maintained sections for news, advertising, and technical articles. By its 20th year (1900 to 2010), it retained only a brief news section, with the majority of content being technical articles from the university's faculty. Recognizing its growth as an important knowledge dissemination medium, it underwent further restructuring, prompting its inclusion in national and international databases. Since 2015, the journal has been exclusively published in digital format.

In alignment with national and international scientific publishing standards, the Technology Journal utilizes SEER (Electronic System for Editing Journals), a software for the construction and management of electronic periodical publications. Submissions and publications for this journal have been processed through SEER/OJS since then.

Today, with over 40 years of existence, the journal focuses on promoting technology and innovation, covering various areas such as Engineering, Architecture, Urbanism, and Computing, along with the associated policies. It also addresses issues related to healthy environments and sustainability.

The journal publishes articles with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, encompassing descriptive, analytical, experimental (basic and applied) research, as well as environmental studies. Its ultimate goal is the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge. Its mission is to promote technological and scientific knowledge in the fields of architecture, information technology, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, telecommunications engineering, environmental and sanitary engineering, and other related sciences.

Functioning as a significant source of information for interdisciplinary research in the field of technology, the journal represents the investigated product not only from Brazil but also from other countries. It is entirely online on the University of Fortaleza's journal portal, and manuscript submissions can be made through the following link: http://periodicos.unifor.br/tec/index.

In this way, the journal contributes to the extensive dissemination of knowledge in the scientific literature of the technological field, increasing visibility for researchers worldwide. Authors can address submission-related inquiries via email at revistatecnologia@unifor.br.
