Abstract

This research aims analyses the effects caused by the addition of lime hydrated and marble tailings on the mechanical properties and adhesiveness of hot mix asphalt mixtures. 1.5% of the total mass of the specimen was replaced by lime and marble tailings making a comparison with a conventional mixture. The tests of indirect tensile strength, indirect tensile stiffness modulus, stability and flow, loss of mass by wear and moisture damage susceptibility were performed. The specimens used were molded according to Marshall Methodology and particle size distribution belonging to the center of brazilian standart C. The results showed that the use of lime and marble tailings considerably improve the susceptibility to damage and the mechanical properties of the mixture. Thus, this work corroborates with the beneficial effects of adding lime in asphalt mixtures already described in the bibliography and identified the potential for using marble waste.
