Peer Review Process

During the Desk Review process, submissions are initially assessed by the Editorial Coordination for originality and relevance of the topic. At this stage, the manuscript is also checked for compliance with the journal’s publication guidelines, the inclusion of all required documents, and the presence of plagiarism (using the Turnitin software). If the manuscript is considered potentially publishable by the journal, it is forwarded for peer review in a double-blind process, in which the manuscript is evaluated by at least two external reviewers selected based on their expertise and affinity with the thematic content of the submission. It is emphasized that the reviewers assigned to each manuscript must not be affiliated with the same institution as the authors, as the identities of both authors and reviewers must be preserved.

Reviewers evaluate the quality of the manuscripts based on conceptual rigor, academic relevance, originality, and clarity of presentation. The possible outcomes of this evaluation are: accepted; accepted with revisions; and rejected. Reviewers have the right to issue a favorable opinion conditional on the revision of the manuscript, to present suggestions for revision, and to propose edits to the revised text, provided that such changes do not alter its content. In case revisions are required, all passages must be clearly indicated for subsequent assessment.

If there are conflicting recommendations regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript, the editor may submit the paper to a third reviewer and make the final decision based on the three evaluations.

Reviewers have a period of fifteen calendar days from the date of receipt of the manuscript to submit their review. This deadline may be extended for an equal or shorter period at the discretion of the editor(s) in charge.

Reviewers must disclose to the editors any conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment of the manuscript and declare whether or not they are qualified to evaluate a specific submission.
