Abstract

This study brings out some thoughts about the relevance and meaning of concepts that are directly regarding the practice of education for citizenship. To start with, it was discussed the social purpose (significance) of education and the probabilities of promoting the individual improvement to citizen. Based on and inspired by Paulo Freire’s elaborated theory, it was brought out the possibilities of some theories about a work performed in community and the educator’s role in order to raise a cohesive and consistent educative practice with the reflections proposed above. As a conclusion and yet based on Paulo Freire’s theory it was mentioned considerations about keeping and supporting the utopia in the Education field. Keywords: Education; Citizenship; Psychology.
