The teachers` training process for the Module XX of the Program Solidary literacy, accomplished by the University of Fortaleza, in the city of Fortaleza, counted with 215 teachers (for literacy). They are originally from 15 municipal districts of Ceará State. They had as technical support, a team of academicals teachers that supplied classes and promoted literacy workshops. The programming consisted of theoretical and practical classes, cultural activities and workshops for elaborating didactic material, planning and presentation of simulated classes. The specific contents of the literacy area are based on psycholinguistics studies from contemporary authors and also in the educator’s Paulo Freire political-philosophical thought. The literacy conceptions were studied and the methods of teaching-learning of the reading and writing were presented. Also the mathematics knowledge are included and study groups were formed with the objective of analyzing the text books and mathematics books supplied by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and therefore adapt their contents to the local reality.
