The present study’s objective is to analyze the creation, conceptualization, characterization, and functions of institutions from the following works of Sigmund Freud: Malaise in Civilization, Totem and Taboo and Group Psychology and Analysis of the Ego. Developed to regulate social life, the institutions – state, family, religion, work, media, and science – have assured a certain level of social balance from a consensus which makes possible the human common life – the basis for our civilization.Downloads
