Abstract

The use of semigrid connections frames in the strut and tie model for the design of reinforced concrete beams is presented, as an alternative to the traditional trusses. The stiffness of the connections was estimated by the semirigid frame analysis, and was verified the existente of a relation between the type of rupture of the beam and the necessity of longitudinal reinforcement at the strut, when assimilated to a column submitted to flexure and axial load.
