Abstract

This work presents some of the research developed by the Laboratory of Geospatial Analysis (LAGE). This laboratory has developed large expertise in the area of hydrology and hydrographic basin at the different scales. Brazilian research agencies and private companies sponsor the research undertaken at the LAGE. Several geotechnologies including GIS, geostatistics and digital image processing are used and integrated in the laboratory. This work presents two case studies: a) spatial analysis of the precipitation using geostatistics, b) production of an infiltration map using GIS. In the future, we intend to develop the integration between GIS and remote sensing and to explore the potential of ArcHydro/ArcGIS® to link time series data on water measurements to geospatial data, which is one of most critical challenges to hydrologists today.
