This article deals with the thermal performance of medium-standard housing that characterizes the urban landscape of peripheral neighborhoods in the city of São Paulo. A two-story house located in Engenheiro Goulart, east of the city, is adopted as a case study. The study allows us to correlate usage and occupancy patterns with energy efficiency and aims to contribute to the debate on the adaptation of cities to climate change, at the scale of the housing unit. To this end, urban data surveys were carried out, information was collected on the constructive characteristics of the housing typology with the highest incidence in the region, the temperature of a house representative of this sample was measured and the extent to which, through renovation, the energy efficiency of this type of housing.
