Abstract

In this work a study of technological tendencies in biodiesel was carried out, based on information extracted of patent documents. The term “patent document” covers published patent applications or granted patents. The Espacenet of EPO (European Patent Office) was used as the data source. The data were obtained through the Internet, using biodiesel as a keyword search and the option of advanced search. Have been mapped the evolution of the documents of patents, the majors countries contributing, type of patent depositor and the main lines of research on biodiesel.
