Abstract

The current globalization process is characterized by the fact that innovation and knowledge are the main factors that define the competitiveness and the development of nations, areas, segments, companies and even individuals. In this context, this work aims at to understand the innovation in the era of the knowledge and their contributions to the competitiveness organizational. For such, the present work is treated of bibliographical research presented in three topics: the first treats of elements in the innovation process, the second approaches the innovation in era of the learning and last, institutional challenges are approached for the science, technology and innovation. In the conclusion it argues that institutions and their agents involved with the science, technology and innovation should recognize that the innovation and the knowledge are put more and more as central elements of the growth of nations, sections, companies and individuals and that the innovation is a continuous and dynamic process of search of knowledge and learnings, dependent directly of interactions in nets industrial or social.
