Technology and Innovation in Capitalist Societies

The article consist on a theorical discussion about the using of technology in capitalist system. Firstly, it’s discussed the concept of technology in a marxist perspective, demonstrating that it is not a capitalim creation, but an appropriation. Next, the schumpterian perspective sends technology to the concept of innovation, where it will be appropriated under the form of new produtcts, services or productive processes, instruments of capital increased value. Finally, the article shows the role performed by the firm, in this process of acquisition or technology development, through the building of a technological capacity which allows its using for reaching the firm’s purposes.
