The aim of this article is to analyze and reflect, based in arguments by a French philosopher named Georges Gusdorf and the Brazilian educator, Paulo Freire about the interpretation of pedagogy when they discuss the meaning of education through the “masterdisciple” or “educator-student” relationship. Pedagogy, with a rich tradition, is conceived as a pratical science “ from education to education” in the sense that its object represents an action of mankind over mankind. Our attempt, above all, is to systematize the philosophical and social pedagogic contributions of the cited authors, respecting to educatormis role as intercessor, giving a human form to values, intervening in his principal function as witness and guide in the search for truth, using utilizing dialogue as an instrument for these mediations. In addition to insert the “master-disciple” or “educaror-student” in the singular colloquy between teacher and student and in confrontation with their existences, exposed one another, as a point of reflection about the purpose of education.
