The Capitalist State: subsidies for a conceptual discussion

Abstract

This article aims at not only considering a few theoretical issues about the capitalist State and more specifically, by discussing the State definition from its needs and ways of expression in the socialist society, but also it intends to analyse how its political power incorporates the dynamic of such a society itself.On the one hand,this paper is not interested in considering the State in its broad historical dimension, that is the different historical ways the political power has assumed. On the other hand,this study is also limited by the analysis of the political State in terms of its political normality: its full expression in our modern democracy. The final discussion indicates a few subsides this proposed conceptual matter. Keywords: State, Capitalist State

Maria Cristina de Queiroz Nobre, Universidade Estadual do Ceará - UECE

Professora Adjunta do Curso de Serviço Social da Universidade Estadual do Ceará – UECE e doutoranda do Programa de Pós-graduação em Sociologia da Universidade Federal do Ceará – UFC. No período de 1999 a 2002 foi professora dos cursos de Ciência Política e Direito da Universidade de Fortaleza – UNIFOR, lecionando, dentre outras, a disciplina Teoria Geral do Estado.
