Abstract

Poverty, until recently, was understood in terms of revenue or lack of it. Nowadays, it became to be analyzed also as denial of opportunities and choices, which are, in general, considered as essential for human dignity. The lack of basic rights which are indisposable to the average citizen, such as shelter, health, education, and public order has led to many people to live in miserable conditions. The aim of this article is to show poverty´s multiple dimensions, emphasizing the poor woman who is also the main target of violence and sexual abuse. Keywords: Woman. Violence. Inequality.
