Abstract

The renewal and creation of universal symbols are achieved by manipulation of communications media, as well as by the knowledge of interactive media, which form an imaginary based on aesthetics for the universal cultural goods market. The institutional production of urban significants on the one side, consumption and remake of them by the population on the other side, lead to an intersection that replies in a better way to problems derived from the development of cultural and urban renewal aspects. This is a short essay about the virtualization of contemporary cities, from the relationship between this process and communications technologies. The relationship between these two aspects poses questions about the constitution of their identification products and about the collective imaginary plan, which go far beyond the parameters established to societies with pre-real time technologies. keywords: Cities. Technology. Virtual.
