Abstract

The Contemporary scenery for business brings to the surface one reality which is the managers’ need for guidance to organize their attributions including the structural matters. The consequence is the important role played by the activities coordination and therefore the existence of a strategic management. The adoption of an adaptative planning has been taken as the best tool. This research aims to explain its evolution and describe how this planning is executed through the organization’s sectors involved in the strategic management. In order to develop a study that contributes with the theme, a bibliographical revision was accomplished, exploring significant aspects of the planning. It started from an historical retrospective overview, ending by exploring the details of the strategic management types there are commonly used in business. After the analysis of the content it was verified that initially the planning in the western societies was characterized by the dialectics. It began by understanding rational optics and it proceeded for the disjoint increasing. Meanwhile, both were shown inefficient. Then, the adapting planning emerged. It was verified that there are four types of basic approaches for existing process of strategic development: rational planning, emerging strategies, strategic learning and logical increment. The main findings show that the strategy’s building process has been evolving recently and along time. It went from an intuitive vision of the manager to a formal plan. The authors have been noticing that the managers’ business vision is fundamental to the strategic behavior assumed by the organization. It was also verified how the strategic mind is important to change management. It is essential for every kind of companies, small or big ones to develop an strategic planning as a formal document.
