Abstract

This article discusses inclusive education in the university and emphasizes the strategic importance of integrating pedagogical actions taken in the classroom, based on bibliographical research. It shows the professional role of the instructor/teacher in contemporary world, his/hers conceptions, beliefs and values about teaching-learning in the perspective of diversity, accessibility and social insertion. It also reflects upon curricular changes, pedagogical practices and evaluation systems to improve inclusion, aiming to make students with special needs to feel integrated and remain in the university. The article also points out the need for a support team and presents some indicators to minimize limitations and improve potentialities in the university spectrum. It analyzes the contributions of COLL (2003), MITTLER (2003), COLL, MARCHESI, PALACIOS (2004) for inclusive education and stresses the importance of their thoughts about the need for education practices accordingly with integrating pedagogical principles.
