Abstract The literature comes, through the time, questioning the family and their relationships, evidencing conflicts and maladjustments. Through the intertextuality, they are not few the works that, in different contexts, they repeat rejection scenes, rivalry and incest among parents, children, siblings and uncles. Using as analysis object the romance The Brothers by Milton Hatoum, we compared passages of contemporary works that evidence in their plots the same present conflicts in classic of the Antique and in biblical histories of Genesis. Like this, we showed that the problems of old family maladjustments are updated in the contemporary production, standing out the present time of the theme. Weywords: Incest. Rejection.
