In the work of the author João Guimarães Rosa words are unique and the meaning is raised to the maximum. There are some kind of magic, sing and enchantment in Rosa’s work. One experimental language makes him unique. What we propose in this article is a study of the short story “A menina de lá” which is a part of the book “Primeiras Estórias” (1962). This paper intends to show predominance of the iconic and poetic character in the work’s language. For that, we used the concept of iconic language from Charles Sanders Peirce and of poetic function from the russian writer Roman Jakobson, beyond the ideas of Vilém Flusser about the saint language. Keywords: João Guimarães Rosa. Primeiras Estórias. Poetical Language. Icon. Semiotics.Downloads
