Making a stylistic analysis of a text means appreciate linguistic resources which have expressive effect. These resources come from author’s choice and result from a process of recreating about the language. This paper has the aim of making an stylistic analysis of poems by Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Vinicius de Moraes. From the poem “Música”, we explore metaphors and its similes, as well as the use of indefinite article before personal own nouns. From “Cabaré Mineiro”, we mainly explore the effect of synecdoche in the meaning of the poem. From “Seu Santo Nome”, we highlighted the resource of intertextuality which gives the poem the tune of sacred word, necessary to the characterization of the word “love”, subject dealt by the poet. From “Vida Vidinha” and “O ônibus Greyhound atravessa o Novo México”, we specially considered the repetition process responsible for rhythm. Keywords: Choice. Expressive effect.
