Abstract

This article is grounded in psychoanalytic clinical practice within socially critical contexts and proposes new configurations of listening and intervention in settings marked by vulnerability and abandonment. In such contexts, adolescents may be confronted with the impasses of invisibility, given the need for recognition by the Other in the construction of self-image that characterizes adolescence. To address these impasses, a clinical device was developed with adolescents in a territory of intense social vulnerability, creating a space in which young people could be seen in their singularities. The device was established on a sports court, where football played a central role. This space became the site in which listening to the subjects took place. There, several adolescents shared their stories, anxieties, and desires. The sports court became a stage for conflict as well as for the creation of bonds, demonstrating its potential as a powerful space for the elaboration of adolescents’ anxieties arising from the violence and vulnerabilities of the territory, as well as from the experience of adolescence itself.
