				<title>Resumo</title>

		<p>Em convergência, esta etapa inicial se delineou como um levantamento exploratório, cujo intuito foi fundamentar o ensaio teórico, sem que houvesse compromisso com a realização de uma revisão caracterizada como sistemática, replicável e metódica. Utilizando os descritores “mulheres indígenas and literatura” e “literatura indígena”, foram selecionados 15 artigos que nos auxiliaram na caracterização da autoria indígena enfatizada e das temáticas abordadas. </p>
		<p>Entre as escritoras indígenas brasileiras comumente citadas nos artigos científicos consultados, destacam-se Eliane Potiguara e Graça Graúna, ambas do povo Potiguara. Precursoras renomadas, elas inspiram outras mulheres, tendo como característica de sua obra a luta por direitos e a expressividade lírica. Em outros termos, elas conjugam denúncia e autoafirmação, articulando sentidos entre o poético e o político.</p>
		<p>Julie Dorrico, brasileira da nação Macuxi, consta como nome emergente entre as escritoras literárias e uma das acadêmicas que mais publica sobre a temática em termos gerais. Sua escrita, assim como a de suas antecessoras, faz da literatura um ato de resistência e rompe com o silenciamento que vem sendo imposto às mulheres indígenas há tanto tempo (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B28">Melo &amp; Silva, 2021</xref>).</p>
		<p>Entre as temáticas abordadas, é predominante a pauta identitária (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Costa &amp; Feldman, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Guanaes, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira, 2019</xref>), muitas vezes acompanhada de ativismo literário, sendo a convergência destas abordagens comum à sua caracterização. Como representativo das pautas identitárias, são considerados os argumentos que protestam a visibilidade dos povos ameríndios, suas culturas e tradições, em oposição não somente ao apagamento simbólico, mas também ao extermínio material de seus corpos e territórios.</p>
		<p>
			<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al. (2019</xref>), ao versarem sobre a literatura brasileira produzida a partir da década de 1990, expõem a relação de violência histórica, migração forçada, ameaça de perda de identidade e luta política enquanto núcleo e mote da autoria indígena de Eliane Potiguara. Argumenta-se que essa autora teria sofrido impactos pela violência simbólico-material a qual foi submetida, sendo as suas produções uma resposta a esses eventos, muitas vezes mascarados pelos processos de modernização.</p>
		<p>A valoração das identidades surge como operadora do protagonismo dos povos indígenas, possibilitando ainda a construção de suas subjetividades através da escrita, uma vez que as narrativas literárias comportam em si o reconhecimento de suas existências e culturas, sendo essa a estrutura discursiva que oferece as bases para as suas narrativas. Em acréscimo, coloca-se em evidência a reivindicação pela visibilidade da literatura assinada pelos povos tradicionais, ao mesmo tempo em que se denunciam os parâmetros excludentes produzidos pelo cânone. </p>
		<p>Ao delatar os estereótipos que acompanham os povos indígenas, a falta de visibilidade e apagamento de suas culturas, tradições, corpos e territórios, essa literatura também aborda a luta constante para que suas expressões literárias sejam legitimadas e valorizadas enquanto literatura (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>). Nesses termos, observa-se que, no seio nas narrativas que reivindicam legitimidade literária, há centralidade da pauta identitária.</p>
		<p>A constatação, portanto, de que as pautas identitárias caracterizam as obras literárias de mulheres indígenas foi fundamental para o surgimento desta proposta, que busca abordar essa literatura em diálogo com a teoria psicanalítica. Logo, este ensaio teórico tem como objetivo tensionar o uso do conceito de identidade no seio da psicanálise denominada freudo-lacaniana. Alcançada pela articulação entre as concepções psicanalíticas de identidade e a caracterização da literatura de mulheres indígenas, esta proposta exigiu que se ultrapassassem as limitações teóricas instituídas pelo campo psicanalítico.</p>

			<title>Identidade e Identificação em Freud</title>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>Sou filha de Makunaima, que criou minha avó: primeiro de cera (mas ela derreteu!) e depois de barro: resistindo ao sol e passando a existir para sempre (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Dorrico, 2019</xref>, p. 17)</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Adentrar o campo teórico em torno da noção de identidade mostra-se um empreendimento complexo e audacioso, que exige o rompimento com algumas concepções já consolidadas na psicanálise freudo-lacaniana, como a de que “a psicanálise não trabalha com o conceito de identidade” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>, p. 16). Embora esta não seja uma definição completamente unânime, o caráter dominante desse entendimento tem desencorajado desenvolvimentos acerca do assunto.</p>
			<p>De fato, não existe uma definição conceitual para identidade em Freud, e muitas das menções desta palavra, ao longo de sua obra, remetem ao seu uso comum e coloquial (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>). Tomando em advertência essa condição, presume-se que o estabelecimento de interlocuções com esse campo pode gerar problemas, ao mesmo tempo em que se defende que esses problemas devem ser abordados de maneira direta e discutidos com profundidade, pois, embora a ideia de identidade seja estrangeira no campo psicanalítico, sua participação assídua na cultura faz dela um tema fundamental (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>).</p>
			<p>Sobre isso, revelam-se pontos de tensão comumente referidos à primeira e segunda tópica. A primeira circunscreve uma divisão subjetiva que coloca o inconsciente como maior representante da verdade do sujeito. A segunda atribui ao Eu qualidades próprias da consciência de onde emerge o reconhecimento de si, decorrente de um saber limitado, pois o Eu não é senhor de sua própria casa. Ainda que o Eu não esteja restrito à consciência, é a ela que ele costumeiramente é associado, o que faz dele uma instância com menor prestígio e colabora para uma definição de identidade sempre limitada acerca da verdade subjetiva (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>).</p>
			<p>Mais afeita à incorporação e desenvolvimento da palavra identificação, a teoria psicanalítica se afasta do caráter substantivado que acompanha a ideia de identidade na sua reivindicação por essência ou substância, assumindo feições de verbo e, portanto, de ação e construção (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B26">Laplanche &amp; Pontalis, 2001</xref>). Definida na língua portuguesa como ato ou efeito de se identificar, na teoria psicanalítica, a identificação representa um processo que perpassa a relação com o outro e acompanha o desenvolvimento da constituição subjetiva.</p>
			<p>Algumas considerações podem ser encontradas na obra freudiana acerca da identidade, a exemplo do que se passa no relato do caso Schreber, onde <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Freud (1911/2010a</xref>) refere a perpetuação de aspectos da sua identidade, apesar das mudanças sofridas ao longo dos anos. Contudo, optou-se por priorizar a abordagem da identificação disposta em Psicologia das Massas e Análise do Eu, texto que, intencionalmente, esquematiza a identificação a partir de três eventos, em oposição a outros nos quais se verifica carência de delineamento e ausência de definição para o vocábulo.</p>
			<p>Como disposto nessa obra, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 178) define a identificação “(...) como a mais antiga manifestação de uma ligação afetiva com uma outra pessoa” e a desenvolve em referência a três passagens constitutivas. A primeira diz respeito à incorporação direta estabelecida com a figura materna, de outra forma explicitada em Totem e Tabu, quando a incorporação do pai ocorre por meio da sua deglutição, em analogia ao que ocorre pela via do mecanismo da introjeção.</p>
			<p>Esta vivência primeva é seguida pelo complexo de Édipo como segunda passagem, ocasião em que o desejo de ter é substituído pelo desejo de ser como o genitor, sendo as figuras parentais responsáveis por imprimir modos de ser compartilhados na cultura, que passam a ser introjetados no Eu do sujeito e podem ser denominados Ideal do Eu.</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>(...) a incitação a formar o ideal do Eu, cuja tutela foi confiada à consciência moral, partiu da influência crítica dos pais intermediada pela voz, aos quais se juntaram no curso do tempo os educadores, instrutores e, como uma hoste inumerável e indefinível, todas as demais pessoas do meio (o próximo, a opinião pública) (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B14">Freud, 1914/2010b</xref>, p. 29).</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Assim, o Ideal do Eu se apresenta como decorrente do processo constitutivo do sujeito em que a identificação com os objetos vem substituir a imagem ideal de si que acompanha o narcisismo primário. Cumulativos a identificações secundárias, os ideais podem ser fonte de prazer e sofrimento, a depender do quão elevados são e das possibilidades disponíveis para alcançá-los. Ligados à consciência moral, eles favorecem a experimentação, por parte do sujeito, de conquistas aprazíveis ou cobranças tirânicas, não devendo ser confundidos com o domínio superegóico, que opera por meio da exigência.</p>
			<p>A terceira passagem que esquematiza as identificações em Freud está referendada à formação do sintoma. Sem que haja a premissa de uma ligação libidinal positiva, ocorre a adoção de características do objeto por meio da incorporação de um traço sintomático, mobilizado pelo desejo de estar no lugar do outro, ser como o outro ou punir-se por ter desejado sê-lo. Como expõe <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 181), “a identificação por meio do sintoma torna-se, então, índice de um lugar de coincidência dos dois Eus, lugar esse que deve ser mantido recalcado”.</p>
			<p>Nesse ponto, fica mais uma vez explicitada a participação do desejo nos processos identificatórios, não sendo possível falar de identidade em psicanálise sem falar de desejo. Assim como as representações estabelecem uma relação de cooperação combinatória com a vida pulsional, a identificação é orientada pelo desejo manifesto no reconhecimento de substitutos de algo que foi primevo, ainda que não idêntico (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>). Essa mobilização, por sua vez, faz advir uma série de sucessores cuja identificação carrega em si as marcas do inconsciente.</p>
			<p>À medida que as identificações passam a abranger elementos de diferentes origens, é possível inferir que a identidade consta como aquilo que persiste a partir das múltiplas identificações. Nas palavras de <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 207), “cada indivíduo é parte integrante da alma de muitas massas, a de sua raça, a de sua classe, a da comunidade de fé, a de seu Estado, etc.”, logo, é o que perdura desta combinação complexa de referências que irá subsidiar o que pode ser denominado identitário no sujeito. </p>
			<p>Em resumo, a identificação direta com o outro materno, somada à integração das imagos parentais e incorporação dos ideais, coloca-se como herança que serve à formulação identitária e à criação sintomática. O desejo, por sua vez, comparece como elemento comum que permite a conjugação das circunstâncias mencionadas, enquanto assinalamento da incidência do inconsciente sobre a estruturação egóica (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud, 1921/2020a</xref>), o que dá ensejo ao debate e conduz a nossa discussão rumo à abordagem lacaniana das identidades.</p>
		</sec>

			<title>Identidade e Semblante em Lacan</title>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>E contarei minhas dores pra ti, Oh! Identidade. E entre um fato e outro, morderei tua cabeça. Como quem procura a fonte da tua força, da tua juventude, o poder da tua gente, o poder do tempo que já passou, mas que vamos recuperar (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B34">Potiguara, 2018</xref>, p. 114).</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Em Lacan, o termo identidade também pode ser encontrado no sentido coloquial, contudo, uma aproximação à sua obra mostra mais que isso, à medida em que são oferecidas diferentes acepções no curso do seu desenvolvimento que o encaminham em direção ao tema no Seminário IX, A Identificação (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 2003</xref>). Avesso à possibilidade de uma essência identitária que pudesse ser pensada fora da estrutura social, o autor não se constrange pelo uso frequente da palavra identidade em seus Escritos, ao mesmo tempo em que incita a mobilidade dos significados atribuídos ao termo.</p>
			<p>Em seu texto intitulado O Estádio do Espelho como Formador da Função do Eu, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Lacan (1949/1998a)</xref> situa a identidade no campo do imaginário, instância que partilha de correspondência com a teoria do narcisismo em <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Freud (1914/2010b</xref>), e é responsável por situar a busca pelo igual. Tomando como referência a etologia para pensar o processo de constituição subjetiva do infante, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Lacan (1949/1998a)</xref> discorre sobre o júbilo da criança ao reconhecer-se de forma integrada a partir da visualização de sua imagem no espelho, cabendo ao adulto que a acompanha promover a confirmação desta imagem especular.</p>
			<p>Antes um corpo despedaçado, o organismo encontra sua imagem numa fase ainda pré-verbal que explicita sua alienação e, por conseguinte, resulta na formulação de uma identidade alienante, pois “É no outro que o sujeito se identifica e até se experimenta a princípio” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B22">Lacan, 1946/1998b</xref>, p. 182). Esse reconhecimento de si possibilita uma identificação imediata com o semelhante, ao mesmo tempo em que revela o malogro da imagem para responder àquele que emergirá enquanto sujeito de linguagem e de desejo, sendo inevitável que a dimensão imaginária fracasse em revelar a verdade sobre o sujeito do inconsciente (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B23">Lacan, 1956/1998c</xref>).</p>
			<p>Distanciando-se das abordagens metafísicas e, portanto, essencialistas a respeito da identidade, as formulações em Lacan também coadunam uma medida de desconhecimento representada pelo outro de si mesmo, em referência ao conceito de inconsciente e à concepção de sujeito por ele privilegiada. De fato, num primeiro momento, a relação dialética com o outro cativa a criança, porém, será nesta mesma relação dual que ela experimentará uma dose elevada de agressividade, mobilizadora da sua desalienação e separação em favor da constituição de um sujeito dividido que integra um Eu e um outro de si mesmo.</p>
			<p>Também por isso, essa conjugação entre os processos de identificação e a dimensão imaginária situa a identidade ao lado de substantivos adjetivantes como a miragem, a mentira e o engano, todos estes em oposição à verdade do inconsciente, que só pode ser acessada pela via do simbólico, instância responsável por caracterizar o encontro com a diferença. Logo, estabelece-se uma oposição entre a identificação oportunizada pela imagem e aquela promovida pelo significante, este último reconhecido como unidade organizadora da dimensão simbólica e marca radical da alteridade (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 2003</xref>). </p>
			<p>Para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>), a identidade em Lacan está atrelada a três pontos de ancoragem, a saber: o significante, o sujeito e o afeto. No que se refere ao significante, sobressaem as aproximações entre os campos da linguística e da psicanálise, ao mesmo tempo em que são levantadas divergências acerca da inserção do sujeito na estrutura da linguagem e da relação estabelecida entre o significado e o significante. </p>
			<p>Em linguística, vemos ser firmada uma relação arbitrária, mas, ainda assim, de interdependência entre significante e significado, ocasião em que o vínculo entre eles passa a constituir um signo linguístico compartilhando sentido comum. Em <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B23">Lacan (1956/1998c)</xref>, por sua vez, permanece a concordância com a dimensão da arbitrariedade, mas não se observa o aprisionamento do significante ao significado, sendo este último definido a posteriori, em referência à cadeia significante e ao sujeito da enunciação. </p>
			<p>Isto implica dizer que, para a linguística saussuriana, há uma subordinação do significante ao significado sem que haja interferência pelo sujeito da enunciação. Para a psicanálise, argumenta-se pela primazia do significante, ocasião em que o sujeito se revela por meio da produção de sentidos orquestrados pelo inconsciente.</p>
			<p>Em distinção, enquanto <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Freud (1914/2010b</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">1921/2020a</xref>) situa as identificações primevas na relação com as imagos materna e paterna, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan (1961-1962/2003)</xref> as desloca para os significantes capturados nas relações primordiais, como elementos fundadores do sujeito e de sua identidade. Na medida em que o sujeito se constitui em estado de alienação à cadeia significante enquanto dimensão do Outro, é por meio do acesso à linguagem que podemos vislumbrar uma apropriação original de cada significante, o que faz com que a identidade se encontre irremediavelmente articulada à linguagem.</p>
			<p>A respeito do afeto, ele responde à inclinação pulsional já mencionada em <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a)</xref>, quando cita a antiguidade da ligação afetiva que habita o ser falante, sendo esta relação eu-outro a base primordial dos processos identificatórios que irão se desdobrar a partir do domínio da linguagem. Assim, o afeto perpassa a linguagem como elemento estruturante do sujeito e, também, a relação dual e especular onde se experimenta o amor e o ódio em grande intensidade, restando ao significante estabelecer o limite na busca pelo igual, que resulte em uma triangulação eu-outro-significante. </p>
			<p>Para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>, p. 241), as identificações posteriores que encontram o sujeito psicanalítico não partem de uma lógica especular, mas do compartilhamento de um significante comum, pois “A pode se reconhecer com B se e somente se ambos se identifiquem com S”, sendo S a letra representativa do significante. Ademais, a radicalidade promovida pelo significante vai além da ausência de igualdade entre dois sujeitos, pois compreende ainda o reconhecimento de um sujeito dividido em si mesmo, que não pode ser capturado pela equação A=A (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino, 2016</xref>), o que direciona este debate para o conceito lacaniano de semblante.</p>
			<p>Ainda pautado no campo da etologia, o conceito de semblante inverte a razão metafísica das identidades em nome de uma lógica segundo a qual não basta ser, é preciso parecer (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>), o que resgata o valor da imagem como elemento emblemático que, junto ao significante, possibilita o acesso à verdade. Para o autor, “A verdade não é o contrário do semblante. A verdade é a dimensão, ou diz-mansão - se vocês me permitirem criar uma nova palavra para designar esses godés - estritamente correlata àquela do semblante” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>, pp. 25-26).</p>
			<p>Inicialmente abordado em referência ao imaginário e seu poder de engano, seu desenvolvimento conceitual na obra lacaniana apresenta crescente articulação com o campo simbólico. Não mais restrito à dimensão imagética, o semblante passa a se constituir como um discurso que, em convergência com as identidades, acolhe o significante e promove a sua imperiosa articulação com a imagem (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Krinski et al., 2020</xref>). </p>
			<p>Esses significantes, por sua vez, não estariam isentos da possibilidade de fixar identidades, “precisamente porque o discurso não deve ser confundido com a linguagem (...), que a partir dele são produzidos modos de inteligibilidade cuja reiteração leva à fundamentação também de lógicas identitárias” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Krinski et al., 2020</xref>, p. 812). Logo, se há um discurso hegemônico a respeito de um determinado grupo, é comum que ele venha a estabelecer contornos identitários para os sujeitos a ele referidos.</p>
			<p>Ainda, é também por meio da linguagem que os sujeitos podem inventar a si mesmos, servindo-se de novos arranjos e outros significantes, sem com isso abdicar da imagem. Uma vez que a identidade, tanto em Freud quanto em Lacan, passa pela profusão de dualidades imagéticas, a teoria lacaniana não chega a representar oposição à elaboração freudiana, ainda que esta sofra modificações oportunizadas pelas lentes da linguística estrutural. </p>
			<p>Em associação com a verdade e, portanto, com o desejo do sujeito do inconsciente, o semblante consta como conceito que vai reunir os registros simbólico e imaginário e oferecer contornos que ultrapassam a imagem, servindo à análise das narrativas identitárias encontradas na literatura de mulheres indígenas.</p>

			<title>A Literatura Identitária das Mulheres Indígenas</title>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>Yo tengo un colar de muchas historias y diferentes etnias. Se no lo reconocem, paciencia. Nosotros habemos de continuar gritando la angustia acumulada hace más de 500 anos (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B15">Graúna, 2025</xref>, p. 8).</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>A literatura de mulheres indígenas é apontada de modo predominante como uma literatura política, que reivindica possibilidades de existência concretas e literárias, ambas marginalizadas pelos discursos e pelas práticas colonizadoras que permanecem perpetuadas nas sociedades capitalistas (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>). Uma vez que a literatura indígena na América Latina é caracterizada pela sua riqueza em gêneros e abordagens (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B30">Neves, 2018</xref>), a repetição constatada em torno de pautas identitárias, combinada à menor expressividade acerca de suas cosmologias, sugere uma forma de sofrimento que não cansa de inscrever-se na intenção de ser reconhecida, pois tampouco pode ser recordada e elaborada, à medida que se mantém atual.</p>
			<p>Os artigos que evidenciam as pautas identitárias na literatura de mulheres indígenas problematizam os estereótipos e expectativas que são projetados sobre elas, a construção das identidades e as conexões com suas culturas e tradições em suas representações literárias (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Costa &amp; Feldman, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Guanaes, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira, 2019</xref>). Isso implica dizer que, frente às identidades impostas pelos padrões eurocêntricos, sejam eles sociais, raciais, étnicos ou de gênero, as construções literárias dos povos indígenas propõem elevar o termo indígena à condição de significante, desassociando-o dos significados forçados, imagens aprisionantes e signos determinados pelo colonizador.</p>
			<p>A centralidade concedida às discussões que perpassam a pauta identitária possibilita evidenciar críticas aos problemas gerados pela colonialidade, como o imperativo de uma homogeneidade manifesto nas representações das mulheres indígenas. O discurso identitário nasce com a compreensão de que estas mulheres compartilham de incidências colonizadoras comuns, mas são múltiplas as formas de enfrentamento e criação, as quais perpassam as dimensões étnicas, ecológicas, epistemológicas e também de gênero. Como expõe <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira (2019</xref>, p. 164), </p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>(...) as mulheres Indígenas não são um monolito, não se conhecem todas, não estão imunes às estruturas patriarcais e não possuem respostas prontas para os problemas da colonialidade. O compromisso com as pautas étnicas, ecológicas e de soberania não extingue a pauta de gênero, mas se acumula em camadas de opressão que precisam ser vencidas.</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>O uso do nós, tão predominante na escrita indígena, configura-se como um pronome que, ao mesmo tempo em que reúne o sentido comum e compartilhado por um grupo, rompe com as dimensões estereotipadas acerca dos povos indígenas, tradicionalmente retratados em terceira pessoa de forma pura, mas também sexualizada e animalesca pela literatura ocidental. Ao demarcarem as especificidades étnicas que quem escreve, tendo em vista a pluralidade cultural que qualifica os povos originários, estas publicações convergem com “a máxima de que na identidade está sempre pressuposta a diferença” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>, p. 10), ao mesmo tempo que convidam a pensá-la enquanto categoria que se estabelece a partir da ancestralidade de um grupo. </p>
			<p>Para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>, p. 243), “As identificações coletivas se estruturam a partir de ‘indivíduos’ que se identificam afetivamente com determinados significantes ou no sentido freudiano, indivíduos que se identificam com certas representações, certos ideais compartilhados pelos membros do grupo”. Assim, estamos falando de um Eu literário que reflete estes processos de identificação e se implica com o reconhecimento de uma ancestralidade em comum, repartida como ideal entre as mulheres indígenas.</p>
			<p>Ademais, é por meio desta conjugação de campos de identificação que “... se ata o reconhecimento do desejo ao desejo de reconhecimento” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 1961-1962/2003</xref>, p. 529). No que se refere ao desejo de reconhecimento, este se faz explícito na luta constante para que suas expressões literárias sejam reconhecidas e valorizadas enquanto literatura (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>). Desta forma, observa-se que, mesmo nas publicações caracterizadas de modo predominante pela pauta identitária, há convergência com a busca por reconhecimento literário. </p>
			<p>No que se refere ao reconhecimento do desejo, este nos é revelado nas entrelinhas da construção ficcional. Embora, do ponto de vista da classificação literária, suas histórias possam ser caracterizadas como realistas - em oposição ao que se encontra denunciante no romantismo e no naturalismo, por exemplo -, em sentido psicanalítico, são representadas como ficção, lugar de onde advém a verdade sobre o sujeito e o seu desejo (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>). Assim, é o desejo que figura como mobilizador do protagonismo literário e acadêmico assumido pelas autoras na abordagem de assuntos que lhes dizem respeito.</p>
			<p>“Em termos correlatos, tudo que é da alçada do efeito de linguagem, tudo que instaura a diz-mansão da verdade, coloca-se a partir de uma estrutura de ficção” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>, p. 73). A exemplo do que se passa na textualidade de Eliane Potiguara e Graça Graúna, é fazendo uso da ficcionalidade que elas borram os limites entre a ficção e a realidade, para então expressar suas verdades enquanto mulheres indígenas (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>). Logo, é pela possibilidade de construir narrativas ancoradas sobre a ficcionalidade que elas podem revelar a sua verdade na condição de sujeito desejante. </p>
			<p>Conceber a literatura de mulheres indígenas nesses termos implica partir do pressuposto de que o cotidiano oferece pistas para a sua construção. No entanto, essa literatura ultrapassa os acontecimentos referidos, sem que haja prejuízos no seu valor de verdade, o qual se mostra de forma iniludível no encontro com sua estrutura ficcional. Uma vez submetidas à linguagem, consta inconcebível acessar diretamente os fatos, restando a elas a possibilidade de “reescrever as histórias mal contadas” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>, p. 137), o que encaminha esta discussão em direção ao conceito lacaniano de semblante, enquanto noção que operacionaliza a estrutura das identidades.</p>
			<p>Para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Dunker (2019</xref>; 2021), o semblante é o operador do discurso que revela a relação que cada um sustenta com a sua aparência e dela faz uso no laço social. Longe de promover o falseamento em suposição a uma verdade escondida, o semblante carrega em si uma verdade possível de sustentar em discurso. Assim como “o sangue vivo não refuta o semblante, ele o colore, torna-o re-semblante, propaga-o” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>, p. 14). Desse modo, é por meio da suspensão das contradições entre imaginário e simbólico, reunindo em um mesmo plano a realidade e a ficção, que Eliane torna inequívoca a mancha de sangue derramado pelo projeto de negação da humanidade indígena. </p>
			<p>E se o discurso não pode abdicar da imagem, a imagem sozinha não é suficiente para manter o semblante, o que permite à autora sustentar sua “cara de índia” em termos de imagem e discurso, como magistralmente se observa no texto de Eliane <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B34">Potiguara, quando questiona “Que faço com a minha cara de índia?” (Potiguara, 2018</xref>, p. 32). Mais que uma imagem, Eliane faz uso da sua fisionomia para inaugurar um discurso que permite a sua existência enquanto sujeito, mostrando a mulher indígena além da aparência, mas sem prescindir dela. </p>
			<p>O semblante que perpassa as identidades também acompanha as mudanças no discurso, muitas vezes favorecidas pela modificação dos lugares, concebidos em sentido figurado, ou mesmo literal. Exemplo disso é que a vida urbana, frequentemente usada como argumento para que se questione acerca das suas identidades, encontra na escrita um espaço intermediário entre a aldeia e a cidade, convocando-as a fabricar maneiras de manter suas tradições e ancestralidade, geralmente intrínsecas aos textos literatos que lhes são autorais (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>). </p>
			<p>É válido lembrar que as mulheres indígenas não deixam de ser quem são por estabelecerem domicílio nas áreas urbanas, ao mesmo tempo que a vida nesses espaços precipita uma produção discursiva a respeito da experiência do não lugar acessado fora território indígena (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>). Assim, toda narrativa identitária revela em sua autoria a estrutura discursiva e seus arranjos compartilhados, que nos contam a história de um tempo e lugar específicos (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">Hall, 2017</xref>).</p>
			<p>
				<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan (2009</xref>) situa na autoria um discurso coletivo que particulariza, destituindo a tese sobre a existência de uma declaração que possa ser pensada fora da estrutura. Em correspondência com os estudos culturais (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">Hall, 2017</xref>), ao retirar a identidade do campo essencialista para transformá-la em um conceito estratégico, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan (2009)</xref> compartilha do entendimento de que a estrutura cria condições para a formulação discursiva, o que se verifica pela confluência com o coletivo, assumida como lugar de enunciação entre as escritoras indígenas.</p>
			<disp-quote>
				<p>Em seus textos, prevalece um sentido de coletividade, o que representa muito do modus vivendi desses povos. Não há um autor que se propõe a privilegiar a sua voz, mas a voz de todo o seu povo e cultura. Ademais, essa literatura não é direcionada apenas para leitores indígenas, mas principalmente para os que não são, a fim de que esses possam conhecer o outro lado da história, até então silenciado (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>, p. 51).</p>
			</disp-quote>
			<p>Não se pode elidir que a necessidade de representação na literatura indígena é decorrente de um sistema econômico expropriador, que estabelece referências identitárias excludentes, a partir de combinações que invariavelmente relegam ao indígena uma imagem desarticulada da palavra viva. Em resposta, os arranjos editoriais cooperativos revelam uma atitude de resistência a um sistema de publicação excludente enquanto, à margem, a literatura de mulheres indígenas avança por meio do resgate da solidariedade negada no mundo contemporâneo.</p>
			<p>Ao implicar o campo psicanalítico rumo à construção de formas solidárias de estar em sociedade, as saídas encontradas pelas mulheres indígenas inspiram a artesania de outros modos de relação, onde a identificação não seja convertida para fins de consumo e o Ideal do Eu não se submeta aos propósitos capitalistas, que objetificam e desumanizam a pessoa indígena. Nesses termos, questiona-se se este recorte conceitual oferece um caminho válido para pensar as identidades indígenas, ou se seria mais pertinente valer-se da sua hermenêutica para compreender os atravessamentos que marcam as existências indígenas no território brasileiro.</p>
			<p> Cientes de que o abismo gerado pelo processo de colonização está longe de ser eliminado, pois se estabelece em contiguidade ao sistema capitalista, adverte-se que uma mudança efetiva neste sentido, mais que tensionar o conceito de identidade no seio na teoria, implica a mobilização das dimensões éticas que atravessam o processo constitutivo deste país. Assim, ao invés de promover a psicologização das identidades indígenas, é preciso conceber as circunstâncias que fazem com que se veja no nativo as insígnias do estrangeiro e, ao expulsá-lo de seu território, eleja-se o indígena como um outro de si mesmo.</p>
			<p>Admitindo no semblante uma possibilidade de romper com a estereotipia que lhes sequestra a dignidade enquanto sujeitos, é a partir do referencial psicanalítico que também podemos denunciar a imagem do indígena como um estrangeiro, refletindo o estranho que habita tudo aquilo que um dia nos foi e é muito familiar (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Freud, 1919/2019</xref>). Nesta conjuntura, marcada pela ignorância a respeito das 305 etnias que habitam e resistem em solo brasileiro, temos um espelho fracassado na tarefa de permitir o reconhecimento do indígena como semelhante, enquanto a recusa da alteridade no outro repercute como genocídio desses povos, em favor de um suposto igual que espelha o colonizador.</p>
		</sec>
		<sec sec-type="conclusions">
			<title>Considerações Finais</title>
			<p>Os preconceitos que marcam as mulheres indígenas favorecem o seu silenciamento na sociedade, nas pesquisas acadêmicas, na literatura e nas representações literárias, limitando a ocupação e pertencimento a esses espaços. Ainda que não seja possível situar toda a literatura de mulheres indígenas brasileiras no campo da pauta identitária, é nesta seara que elas têm se colocado com suas literaturas engajadas e solidárias, representativas de um discurso que coaduna o que lhes é coletivo e particular. </p>
			<p>A literatura de autoria indígena advoga pela sua pluralidade identitária, em detrimento a uma figuração simplista e estereotipada, a qual predomina no cinema, na pintura, na literatura e nas artes de uma maneira geral. Valendo-se do lugar de escritora, as autoras incitam formas de resistência e lutas, evidenciando sua força, sabedoria e o poder da palavra para gerar diálogos, transformações e aprendizados, não existindo qualquer argumento para que a psicanálise continue a se furtar deste encontro.</p>
			<p>Esta proposição não elide os desafios que lhes são próprios, a exemplo daquele oportunizado pela emergência temática das identidades e outros sabidamente encontrados nos textos freudianos que fazem fronteira com a antropologia. De fato, o interesse acerca das mulheres indígenas e suas narrativas demanda uma aproximação cuidadosa, pois, uma vez pautada em marcos culturais distintos, ela se mostra sujeita a equívocos. </p>
			<p>Isto posto, é possível presumir que a cautela sugerida concorre para a escassez de referências, mas não justifica a omissão manifesta pelo campo psicanalítico, aferida em bases de dados comprometidos com o conhecimento produzido na América Latina. Em acréscimo, esta lacuna também se verifica pela carência de um vocabulário controlado, que oportunize a sua promoção para além dos limites aqui ultrapassados. </p>
			<p>Desprovido de melhores descritores, e de um maior volume de publicações, explicitamos as limitações assumidas na elaboração deste ensaio teórico, firmado sobre um levantamento exploratório que não incluiu em sua busca a literatura cinzenta. Apesar destas restrições, esperamos mobilizar outras imersões acerca da temática, a serem promovidas também em diálogo com outras disciplinas, no intuito de colaborar com futuros desenvolvimentos teóricos e metodológicos. </p>
			<p>Em convergência com os princípios estabelecidos no campo psicanalítico, propõe-se a elaboração de estudos que dialoguem diretamente com o texto literário ou que recorram à escuta dessas mulheres, reconhecendo-as como protagonistas a serem tomadas em consideração. Ao recusar a ideia de que a teoria representa um empecilho para escutá-las, não há o intuito de submetê-las à clínica psicanalítica. Ao contrário, defendemos a possibilidade de ouví-las e pensar com elas a cultura.</p>
			<p>Durante muito tempo, os povos originários foram vistos apenas como tema de estudo, sendo frequentemente retratados em textos, mas raramente com sua própria voz ou autoria (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B33">Pachamama, 2020</xref>), fato que inclui a participação da psicanálise colaborando para essa incorreção. Se, para <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B14">Freud (1933/2020b)</xref>, a atividade de trançar seria uma forma das mulheres recobrirem a falta, identificamos no tear da palavra de Graça Graúna a possibilidade de fazer oposição a esse discurso alienante, em meio a tantos outros que ainda prevalecem a respeito de suas identidades. </p>
			<p>Por fim, advoga-se que a abordagem das identidades indígenas pode se beneficiar do conceito psicanalítico de semblante, pois, enquanto o significante sustenta um encontro ético com a alteridade, a imagem cria possibilidades de reconhecimento no outro que ultrapassam o reflexo devolvido pelo espelho do colonizador. Nesses termos, espera-se que a leitura psicanalítica das identidades abra caminho para outras interlocuções que reflitam sobre os rumos da vida em sociedade e da ética que perpassa a cultura, para além dos processos identitários que esta explanação comporta. </p>
			<p>Para futuras aproximações, recomenda-se uma consulta à Bibliografia das Publicações Indígenas do Brasil, criada por Aline Franca, Daniel Munduruku e Thúlio Gomes, uma iniciativa colaborativa que reúne uma lista de autoras e autores indígenas brasileiros, suas publicações em livros, teses e dissertações. Em resposta aos parâmetros excludentes produzidos pelo cânone, este sítio, além de agrupar conhecimento de autoria indígena, favorece o acesso às produções ameríndias locais (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Ferreira, 2021</xref>), uma vez que as plataformas tradicionais não desenvolveram recursos afirmativos que pudessem facilitar este acesso.</p>

				<title>Abstract</title>
				<p>Engagements between psychoanalytic theory and Indigenous women’s literature remain rare and insufficient to address the challenges faced by a psychoanalysis developed in the Brazilian context, which has been unable to recognize, within the specificities of its own territory, the “uncanny” that drives theoretical advancement. In response to this scenario, this theoretical essay prioritizes the writings of Freud and Lacan, complemented by recent articles that address Indigenous women authors and their respective works. The initial exploratory survey identified the recurrent presence of identity-related issues as a defining characteristic of literature authored by Indigenous women. As identity is a concept foreign to the psychoanalytic field, this article aims to problematize its use within Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis. Whether articulated through the signifier or referenced through images, this discussion led the debate toward the Lacanian concept of semblance, which is adopted here as a hermeneutic framework for dialogue with Indigenous women’s literature. From this perspective, the article argues that calling upon the psychoanalytic field to contribute to the construction of solidaristic forms of social bonds requires recognizing that the validation of Indigenous identities cannot be reduced to the legitimation of alterity alone, since their identification as the “other” has historically implied their annihilation in favor of a presumed “same.”</p>

		<body>
			<p>The emergence of psychoanalysis was marked by the possibility of listening to women and to their forms of suffering. However, the decades that have elapsed since the introduction of psychoanalysis in Brazil have not been sufficient for it to break with the double silencing that characterizes Indigenous women, both as representatives of Amerindian cultures and as women. Similarly, literature has long been an object of interest for psychoanalysts; nevertheless, the dialogue between psychoanalysis and the literature of traditional peoples has remained significantly rare. This gap motivates the present effort to characterize the existing publications on these narratives and to subsequently examine them in articulation with psychoanalytic theory.</p>
			<p>As an emergent practice, the literary writing of Indigenous women resists the invisibility produced by major Brazilian publishing houses, which are responsible for assigning value to and circulating specific forms of cultural production (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B28">Melo &amp; Silva, 2021</xref>). Fifty years after the first literary writings of the pioneer Eliane Potiguara, published only from 2004 onward, there are currently approximately 60 Indigenous women writers actively engaged in disseminating their work in Brazil. They produce books across a wide range of literary genres and are affiliated with diverse publishing groups (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B27">Martinez, 2021</xref>).</p>
			<p>In contemporary contexts, literature has figured as a privileged instrument for the inscription of plural subjectivities. It has served as a means for expressing forms of femininity constituted alongside Brazil’s traditional peoples. This understanding guided the decision to characterize this body of literature in search of an overarching view of the field. Accordingly, the dialogue with psychoanalysis was not established through the selection of a single literary work, but rather through scientific articles that address Indigenous women’s literature in their analyses.</p>
			<p>A significant obstacle encountered in this process was the lack of satisfactory descriptors capable of encompassing themes related to Indigenous culture. This limitation reflects the political and cultural minoritization discussed by <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B6">Dorrico et al. (2020</xref>) and contributes both to the scarcity of publications and to the fragility of dialogue among existing studies. Because of the difficulty of accessing meaningful references in traditional databases, the Mendeley<xref ref-type="fn" rid="fn2">1</xref> platform search engine was adopted as an alternative source, as it proved more effective in meeting the aims of this study.</p>
			<p>In this context, the initial stage of the research was designed as an exploratory survey intended to support a theoretical essay, without any commitment to conducting a systematic, replicable, or methodologically rigid review. Using the descriptors “mulheres indígenas AND literatura” and “literatura indígena,” 15 articles were selected. These studies supported the characterization of Indigenous authorship and the thematic axes addressed in the literature.</p>
			<p>Among Brazilian Indigenous women writers most frequently cited in the consulted scientific articles are Eliane Potiguara and Graça Graúna, both from the Potiguara people. As renowned pioneers, they have inspired other women writers and are characterized by works marked by the struggle for rights and strong lyrical expressiveness. In other words, their writing combines denunciation and self-affirmation, articulating meanings at the intersection of the poetic and the political.</p>
			<p>Julie Dorrico, a Brazilian writer from the Macuxi nation, emerges as a prominent contemporary figure among literary authors and as one of the academics who most frequently publishes on this theme in broader terms. Her writing, like that of her predecessors, transforms literature into an act of resistance and disrupts the silencing long imposed on Indigenous women (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B28">Melo &amp; Silva, 2021</xref>).</p>
			<p>Across the analyzed studies, identity-related issues predominate as a central thematic axis (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Costa &amp; Feldman, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Guanaes, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira, 2019</xref>). These themes are often accompanied by forms of literary activism, and the convergence of these approaches is a defining feature of this body of work. As expressions of identity-based agendas, these arguments call for the visibility of Amerindian peoples, their cultures, and their traditions, in opposition not only to symbolic erasure but also to the material extermination of their bodies and territories.</p>
			<p>In their discussion of Brazilian literature produced since the 1990s, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al. (2019</xref>) highlight historical violence, forced migration, threats to identity loss, and political struggle as the core and driving forces of Eliane Potiguara’s Indigenous authorship. They argue that the author was deeply affected by the symbolic and material violence to which she was subjected, and that her literary production constitutes a response to these experiences, which are often obscured by processes of modernization.</p>
			<p>The valorization of identity emerges as a key operator of Indigenous protagonism, enabling the construction of subjectivities through writing. Literary narratives inherently incorporate recognition of Indigenous existence and culture, providing the discursive structure that underpins these narratives. Additionally, these works foreground demands for the visibility of literature authored by traditional peoples, while simultaneously denouncing the exclusionary parameters produced by the literary canon.</p>
			<p>By exposing the stereotypes associated with Indigenous peoples and the lack of visibility and erasure of their cultures, traditions, bodies, and territories, this literature also addresses the ongoing struggle for literary expressions to be recognized and valued as literature in their own right (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>). Within these narratives that seek literary legitimacy, identity-based concerns occupy a central position.</p>
			<p>The recognition that identity agendas characterize the literary works of Indigenous women was therefore fundamental to the emergence of the present proposal, which seeks to engage this literature in dialogue with psychoanalytic theory. Accordingly, this theoretical essay aims to problematize the use of the concept of identity within Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis. Achieved through the articulation between psychoanalytic conceptions of identity and the characterization of Indigenous women’s literature, this endeavor required moving beyond the theoretical limitations historically established within the psychoanalytic field.</p>

				<title>Identity and Identification in Freud</title>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>I am the daughter of Makunaima, who created my grandmother: first out of wax (but she melted!) and then out of clay, resisting the sun and thus coming to exist forever (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Dorrico, 2019</xref>, p. 17).</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>Entering the theoretical field surrounding the notion of identity proves to be a complex and audacious undertaking, as it requires breaking with certain conceptions long consolidated in Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalysis, such as the claim that psychoanalysis does not work with the concept of identity (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>, p. 16). Although this position is not entirely unanimous, its predominance has discouraged more sustained theoretical developments on the subject.</p>
				<p>Indeed, there is no conceptual definition of identity in Freud, and many occurrences of the term throughout his work refer to its common, colloquial usage (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>). Taking this condition as a caveat, it may be assumed that establishing interlocutions with this field can generate difficulties. At the same time, it is argued that such difficulties must be addressed directly and examined in depth. Although the idea of identity is foreign to the psychoanalytic field, its persistent presence in culture renders it a fundamental theme (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>).</p>
				<p>In this regard, points of tension commonly associated with the first and second topographies become apparent. The first circumscribes a subjective division in which the unconscious is positioned as the primary bearer of the subject’s truth. The second attributes to the ego qualities associated with consciousness, from which self-recognition emerges, albeit grounded in limited knowledge, since the ego is not master in its own house. Although the ego is not restricted to consciousness, it is commonly associated with it, which grants it lesser theoretical prestige and contributes to an understanding of identity that is always limited in relation to subjective truth (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>).</p>
				<p>More closely aligned with the incorporation and development of the notion of identification, psychoanalytic theory distances itself from the substantivized character that accompanies the idea of identity in its claim to essence or substance. Instead, it adopts the features of a verb and, therefore, of action and construction (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B26">Laplanche &amp; Pontalis, 2001</xref>). Defined in Portuguese as the act or effect of identifying oneself, identification in psychoanalytic theory represents a process that unfolds through the relation to the other and accompanies the development of subjective constitution.</p>
				<p>Certain considerations regarding identity can be found in Freud’s work, as exemplified in the Schreber case, in which <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B10">Freud (1911/2010a)</xref> refers to the persistence of aspects of identity despite the changes undergone over the years. Nevertheless, priority is given here to the discussion of identification presented in Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego, a text that intentionally schematizes identification through three distinct moments, in contrast to other writings in which the term lacks clear delineation and definition.</p>
				<p>In this work, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 178) defines identification as the earliest expression of an emotional tie with another person and develops it with reference to three constitutive passages. The first concerns the direct incorporation established with the maternal figure, elsewhere explicated in Totem and Taboo, when the incorporation of the father occurs through his devouring, by analogy with the mechanism of introjection.</p>
				<p>This primordial experience is followed by the Oedipus complex as a second passage, in which the desire to have is replaced by the desire to be like the parent. Parental figures are thus responsible for imprinting culturally shared modes of being, which are introjected into the subject’s ego and may be designated as the ego ideal.</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>[…] the incitement to form the ego ideal, whose guardianship was entrusted to the moral conscience, stemmed from the critical influence of the parents, mediated by the voice, to which were added over time educators, instructors, and, as an innumerable and indefinable host, all other people in the social environment (neighbors, public opinion) (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Freud, 1914/2010b</xref>, p. 29).</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>Accordingly, the ego ideal emerges as a product of the subject’s constitutive process, in which identification with objects replaces the ideal self-image characteristic of primary narcissism. Cumulative with secondary identifications, ideals may become sources of pleasure or suffering, depending on how elevated they are and on the possibilities available for attaining them. Linked to moral conscience, they allow the subject to experience gratifying achievements or tyrannical self-demands. They should not be confused with the superegoic domain, which operates through imperative injunctions.</p>
				<p>The third passage that schematizes identification in Freud refers to symptom formation. Without presupposing a positive libidinal bond, the subject adopts characteristics of the object through the incorporation of a symptomatic trait, mobilized by the desire to occupy the other’s place, to be like the other, or to punish oneself for having wished to be so. As <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 181) states, identification through the symptom thus becomes an index of a point of coincidence between the two egos, a point that must remain repressed.</p>
				<p>At this juncture, the role of desire in identificatory processes once again becomes explicit, making it impossible to speak of identity in psychoanalysis without addressing desire. Just as representations establish a combinatory relation with drive life, identification is oriented by desire, manifested in the recognition of substitutes for something that was primordial, even though not identical (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Cunha, 2000</xref>). This mobilization, in turn, gives rise to a series of successors whose identifications bear the marks of the unconscious.</p>
				<p>As identifications come to encompass elements of diverse origins, it becomes possible to infer identity as that which persists across multiple identifications. In <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud’s words (1921/2020a</xref>, p. 207), each individual is a constituent part of the mental life of many groups: his race, his class, his religious community, his state, and so on. What endures from this complex combination of references is what may be designated as the subject’s identitary dimension.</p>
				<p>In sum, direct identification with the maternal other, combined with the integration of parental imagos and the incorporation of ideals, constitutes a legacy that supports both the formulation of identity and symptom formation. Desire, in turn, appears as the common element that enables the conjunction of these circumstances, marking the incidence of the unconscious on ego structuring (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud, 1921/2020a</xref>). This framework opens the way for further debate and guides the present discussion toward a Lacanian approach to identities.</p>

				<title>Identity and Semblance in Lacan</title>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>And I will tell you my pains, oh Identity. And between one fact and another, I will bite off your head, as one who seeks the source of your strength, your youth, the power of your people, the power of time that has already passed but that we will reclaim (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B34">Potiguara, 2018</xref>, p. 114).</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>In Lacan, the term identity can also be found in its colloquial sense. However, a closer engagement with his work reveals a more complex picture, as different meanings are offered throughout his theoretical development, culminating in a sustained engagement with the theme in Seminar IX: Identification (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 2003</xref>). Averse to the possibility of an identitarian essence conceived outside the social structure, Lacan does not refrain from using the term identity frequently in his
 Écrits, while simultaneously encouraging the mobility of the meanings attributed to it.</p>
				<p>In The Mirror Stage as Formative of the I Function, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Lacan (1949/1998a)</xref> situates identity within the imaginary register, which corresponds to Freud’s theory of narcissism (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">1914/2010b</xref>) and is responsible for orienting the pursuit of sameness. Drawing on ethology to think about the infant’s process of subjective constitution, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B21">Lacan (1949/1998a)</xref> describes the child’s jubilation upon recognizing itself as an integrated whole through the visualization of its image in the mirror. The accompanying adult plays a crucial role in confirming this specular image.</p>
				<p>Previously experienced as a fragmented body, the organism encounters its image at a pre-verbal stage that exposes its alienation and consequently gives rise to an alienating identity. As Lacan states, it is in the other that the subject identifies and even initially experiences itself (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B22">Lacan, 1946/1998b</xref>, p. 182). This self-recognition enables an immediate identification with the similar other, while simultaneously revealing the failure of the image to account for what will emerge as a subject of language and desire. It is therefore inevitable that the imaginary dimension fails to disclose the truth of the subject of the unconscious (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B23">Lacan, 1956/1998c</xref>).</p>
				<p>Distancing himself from metaphysical and, therefore, essentialist approaches to identity, Lacan’s formulations also incorporate a dimension of non-knowledge embodied by the other within oneself, in reference to the concept of the unconscious and to the notion of subject he privileges. Initially, the dialectical relation with the other captivates the child; however, it is within this same dual relation that the child will experience a high degree of aggressivity. This aggressivity mobilizes processes of disalienation and separation, favoring the constitution of a divided subject who integrates both an ego and an other within itself.</p>
				<p>Therefore, the conjunction between identificatory processes and the imaginary dimension situates identity alongside qualifying nouns such as mirage, deception, and illusion, all of which stand in opposition to the truth of the unconscious. This truth can only be accessed through the symbolic register, the instance responsible for structuring the encounter with difference. Thus, an opposition is established between identification mediated by the image and that promoted by the signifier, the latter recognized as the organizing unit of the symbolic dimension and as the radical mark of alterity (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 2003</xref>).</p>
				<p>According to <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>), identity in Lacan is anchored in three points: the signifier, the subject, and affect. With regard to the signifier, affinities between linguistics and psychoanalysis come to the fore, alongside divergences concerning the subject’s insertion into the structure of language and the relationship between signifier and signified.</p>
				<p>In linguistics, the relationship between signifier and signified is established as arbitrary yet interdependent, forming a linguistic sign that shares a common meaning. In <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B23">Lacan’s account (1956/1998c</xref>), arbitrariness is maintained, but the signifier is not bound to the signified. The latter is instead defined a posteriori, in reference to the signifying chain and to the subject of enunciation.</p>
				<p>This implies that, for Saussurean linguistics, the signifier is subordinated to the signified, without interference from the subject of enunciation. In psychoanalysis, by contrast, the primacy of the signifier is asserted, and the subject is revealed through the production of meanings orchestrated by the unconscious.</p>
				<p>While <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B11">Freud (1914/2010b</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">1921/2020a</xref>) situates primordial identifications in the relationship with maternal and paternal imagos, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan (1961-1962/2003)</xref> displaces them to the signifiers captured in primordial relations, understood as founding elements of both the subject and identity. As the subject is constituted in a state of alienation to the signifying chain as a dimension of the Other, it is through access to language that an original appropriation of each signifier becomes possible. Identity is thus inescapably articulated with language.</p>
				<p>Regarding affect, it corresponds to the drive inclination already noted by <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B13">Freud (1921/2020a</xref>, when he refers to the antiquity of the affective bond inherent to the speaking being. This ego-other relation constitutes the primordial basis of identificatory processes that later unfold within the domain of language. Affect therefore traverses language as a structuring element of the subject, while also permeating the dual and specular relation in which love and hate are experienced with great intensity. It falls to the signifier to impose a limit on the pursuit of sameness, enabling a triangulation between ego, other, and signifier.</p>
				<p>For <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>, p. 241), later identifications encountered by the psychoanalytic subject do not follow a specular logic but rather one based on the sharing of a common signifier, since A can recognize itself in B if and only if both identify with S, where S represents the signifier. Moreover, the radicality introduced by the signifier extends beyond the absence of equality between two subjects. It also entails the recognition of a subject divided within itself, which cannot be captured by the equation A = A (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino, 2016</xref>). This shift directs the discussion toward the Lacanian concept of semblance.</p>
				<p>Still drawing on ethology, the concept of semblance inverts the metaphysical rationale of identity in favor of a logic according to which being is insufficient; one must also appear (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>). This recuperates the value of the image as an emblematic element that, together with the signifier, enables access to truth. As Lacan states, “Truth is not the opposite of semblance. Truth is the dimension - or dit-mansion, if you will allow me to coin a new word - strictly correlated with that of semblance” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>, pp. 25-26).</p>
				<p>Initially addressed in relation to the imaginary and its power of deception, the conceptual development of semblance in Lacan’s work progressively articulates it with the symbolic field. No longer restricted to the imagistic dimension, semblance comes to be constituted as a discourse that, in convergence with identity, accommodates the signifier and promotes its imperative articulation with the image (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Krinski et al., 2020</xref>).</p>
				<p>These signifiers, in turn, are not exempt from the possibility of fixing identities, “precisely because discourse should not be confused with language (…), since it produces modes of intelligibility whose reiteration also grounds identitarian logics” (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B20">Krinski et al., 2020</xref>, p. 812). Thus, when a hegemonic discourse exists regarding a given group, it commonly establishes identitarian contours for the subjects to whom it refers.</p>
				<p>At the same time, it is through language that subjects can invent themselves, drawing on new arrangements and other signifiers without abandoning the image. Because identity, in both Freud and Lacan, unfolds through a proliferation of imagistic dualities, Lacanian theory does not stand in opposition to Freud’s elaboration, even though it introduces modifications informed by the framework of structural linguistics.</p>
				<p>Associated with truth and, therefore, with the desire of the subject of the unconscious, semblance emerges as a concept that brings together the symbolic and imaginary registers. It offers contours that exceed the image and serves as a key analytical tool for examining the identitarian narratives found in the literature of Indigenous women.</p>

				<title>The Identity-based Literature of Indigenous Women</title>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>I wear a necklace made of many stories and different ethnicities. If they do not recognize it, so be it. We will continue to cry out the anguish accumulated for more than 500 years (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B15">Graúna, 2025</xref>, p. 8).</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>The literature produced by Indigenous women is predominantly described as political literature, one that claims concrete possibilities of existence, both lived and literary, systematically marginalized by colonial discourses and practices that remain entrenched in capitalist societies (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>). While Indigenous literature in Latin America is characterized by its richness in genres and approaches (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B30">Neves, 2018</xref>), the recurrence of identity-based agendas, combined with the comparatively lesser emphasis on cosmologies, suggests a form of suffering that persistently seeks recognition. This suffering cannot be remembered and worked through insofar as it remains continually actualized.</p>
				<p>Studies that foreground identity-based agendas in Indigenous women’s literature problematize the stereotypes and expectations projected onto these authors, the construction of identities, and the connections between literary representations and their cultures and traditions (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Costa &amp; Feldman, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B16">Guanaes, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira, 2019</xref>). In this sense, in the face of identities imposed by Eurocentric standards, whether social, racial, ethnic, or gendered, Indigenous literary constructions propose elevating the term Indigenous to the status of a signifier. This move detaches it from forced meanings, confining images, and signs determined by the colonizer.</p>
				<p>The centrality granted to identity-based discussions makes it possible to articulate critiques of the problems generated by coloniality, such as the imperative of homogeneity that pervades representations of Indigenous women. Identity discourse emerges from the recognition that these women share common colonial incursions, while acknowledging the multiplicity of forms of resistance and creation that traverse ethnic, ecological, epistemological, and gendered dimensions. As <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B37">Vieira (2019</xref>, p. 164) notes:</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>[…] Indigenous women are not a monolith; they do not all know one another, they are not immune to patriarchal structures, and they do not possess ready-made answers to the problems of coloniality. Commitment to ethnic, ecological, and sovereignty-related agendas does not erase the gender agenda, but rather accumulates layers of oppression that must be overcome.</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>The frequent use of the pronoun we in Indigenous writing functions as a linguistic operator that simultaneously conveys a shared collective meaning and disrupts stereotypical representations of Indigenous peoples. Traditionally portrayed in the third person as pure, yet also sexualized and animalized by Western literature, these authors assert their own voices while marking ethnic specificities in writing, in light of the cultural plurality that characterizes Indigenous peoples. In doing so, they converge with the maxim that difference is always presupposed within identity (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B19">Krinski, 2020</xref>, p. 10), while also inviting identity to be considered as a category grounded in collective ancestry.</p>
				<p>According to <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B35">Starnino (2016</xref>, p. 243), collective identifications are structured through ‘individuals’ who identify affectively with certain signifiers or, in Freudian terms, individuals who identify with shared representations and ideals among members of the group. What emerges, then, is a literary ego that reflects these identificatory processes and is implicated in the recognition of a shared ancestry, distributed as an ideal among Indigenous women.</p>
				<p>Moreover, it is through this convergence of identificatory fields that the recognition of desire becomes bound to the desire for recognition (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B24">Lacan, 1961-1962/2003</xref>, p. 529). With regard to the desire for recognition, this dynamic becomes explicit in the ongoing struggle for Indigenous women’s literary expressions to be recognized and valued as literature (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">Danner et al., 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B17">Guimarães, 2018</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B31">Olivieri-Godet, 2017</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B36">Soares-Pinto et al., 2020</xref>). Thus, even in publications predominantly characterized by identity-based agendas, there is a clear convergence with the pursuit of literary recognition.</p>
				<p>The recognition of desire, in turn, is revealed in the interstices of fictional construction. Although, from the standpoint of literary classification, these narratives may be described as realist - rather than aligned with the denunciatory modes of Romanticism or Naturalism, for example - in psychoanalytic terms they are understood as fiction, the site from which the truth of the subject and of desire emerges (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>). Desire therefore functions as the driving force behind the literary and academic protagonism assumed by these authors in addressing matters that concern them directly.</p>
				<p>Correlatively, everything that belongs to the effects of language, everything that institutes the dit-mansion of truth, arises from a fictional structure (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan, 2009</xref>, p. 73). As exemplified in the works of Eliane Potiguara and Graça Graúna, it is through fictionality that the boundaries between fiction and reality are blurred, allowing these authors to express their truths as Indigenous women (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>). Through narratives anchored in fiction, they are able to reveal their truth as desiring subjects.</p>
				<p>Conceiving Indigenous women’s literature in these terms requires assuming that everyday life offers clues for its construction. Yet this literature exceeds the events it references without diminishing its truth value, which becomes unmistakable in the encounter with its fictional structure. Once subjected to language, direct access to facts becomes inconceivable, leaving the possibility of rewriting poorly told histories (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B29">Molina, 2019</xref>, p. 137). This movement directs the discussion toward the Lacanian concept of semblance, understood as a notion that operationalizes the structure of identities.</p>
				<p>For <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Dunker (2019</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B8">2021</xref>), semblance functions as the discursive operator that reveals how each subject relates to appearance and mobilizes it within the social bond. Far from promoting falsification in opposition to a hidden truth, semblance carries a truth that can be sustained in discourse. As <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan (2009</xref>, p. 14) asserts, living blood does not refute semblance; it colors it, renders it re-semblance, and propagates it. Through the suspension of contradictions between the imaginary and the symbolic, bringing reality and fiction onto the same plane, Eliane Potiguara renders unmistakable the stain of blood spilled by projects that deny Indigenous humanity.</p>
				<p>If discourse cannot dispense with the image, the image alone is insufficient to sustain semblance. This allows the author to uphold her “Indigenous face” in both imagistic and discursive terms, as powerfully illustrated when Eliane <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B34">Potiguara asks, What am I to do with my Indigenous face? (Potiguara, 2018</xref>, p. 32). More than an image, she mobilizes her physiognomy to inaugurate a discourse that enables her existence as a subject, revealing Indigenous womanhood beyond appearance, without relinquishing it.</p>
				<p>The semblance that permeates identities also accompanies shifts in discourse, often facilitated by changes in place, whether figurative or literal. Urban life, frequently invoked to question Indigenous identities, finds in writing an intermediate space between village and city. This space invites Indigenous women to devise ways of preserving traditions and ancestry, which are often intrinsic to their literary texts (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>).</p>
				<p>Importantly, Indigenous women do not cease to be who they are when they reside in urban areas. At the same time, urban life precipitates discursive production concerning the experience of non-place encountered outside Indigenous territory (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B32">Pachamama, 2019</xref>). Every identitarian narrative thus reveals, through its authorship, a discursive structure and shared arrangements that recount the history of a specific time and place (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">Hall, 2017</xref>).</p>
				<p>
					<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan (2009</xref>) situates authorship within a collective discourse that particularizes, thereby undermining the notion of a statement that could exist outside structure. In resonance with cultural studies (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B18">Hall, 2017</xref>), by removing identity from the essentialist domain and treating it as a strategic concept, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B25">Lacan (2009) </xref>shares the understanding that structure creates the conditions for discursive formulation. This is evidenced by the convergence with the collective, assumed as the place of enunciation among Indigenous women writers.</p>
				<disp-quote>
					<p>A sense of collectivity prevails in these texts, reflecting the modus vivendi of Indigenous peoples. No author seeks to privilege her own voice in isolation, but rather the voice of her people and culture as a whole. Moreover, this literature is not addressed solely to Indigenous readers, but primarily to non-Indigenous audiences, so that they may encounter the other side of a history that has long been silenced (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Calixto, 2019</xref>, p. 51).</p>
				</disp-quote>
				<p>It cannot be overlooked that the need for representation in Indigenous literature arises from an expropriative economic system that establishes exclusionary identitarian references, invariably relegating Indigenous peoples to images detached from living speech. In response, cooperative editorial arrangements reveal a stance of resistance to exclusionary publishing systems. At the margins, Indigenous women’s literature advances by reclaiming forms of solidarity that have been denied in the contemporary world.</p>
				<p>By implicating the psychoanalytic field in the construction of solidaristic ways of being in society, the strategies developed by Indigenous women inspire the crafting of alternative modes of relation, in which identification is not converted into an object of consumption and the ego ideal is not subordinated to capitalist purposes that objectify and dehumanize Indigenous persons. In this sense, it becomes necessary to ask whether this conceptual framework offers a viable path for thinking Indigenous identities, or whether it is more productive to employ its hermeneutics to understand the forces that shape Indigenous existence in Brazilian territory.</p>
				<p>Aware that the abyss produced by colonization is far from eliminated, as it persists in contiguity with the capitalist system, it must be emphasized that meaningful change requires more than merely problematizing the concept of identity within theory. It demands the mobilization of ethical dimensions that traverse the very process of national constitution. Rather than psychologizing Indigenous identities, it is necessary to apprehend the conditions that lead to the native being marked with the insignia of the foreigner and, through territorial dispossession, cast as an other to oneself.</p>
				<p>By recognizing in semblance the possibility of breaking with the stereotypes that strip Indigenous peoples of their dignity as subjects, psychoanalysis can also denounce the image of the Indigenous person as a foreigner. This image reflects the uncanny that inhabits what was once, and remains, profoundly familiar (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B12">Freud, 1919/2019</xref>). In a context marked by ignorance regarding the 305 ethnic groups that inhabit and resist within Brazilian territory, the mirror fails to enable recognition of the Indigenous person as a similar other. The refusal of alterity thus reverberates as genocide, carried out in favor of a supposed sameness that mirrors the colonizer.</p>
			</sec>
			<sec sec-type="conclusions">
				<title>Final Considerations</title>
				<p>The prejudices that shape Indigenous women’s experience contribute to their silencing in society, academic research, literature, and literary representation, thereby restricting their access to and sense of belonging within these spaces. Although not all literature authored by Indigenous women in Brazil can be situated within identity-based agendas, it is within this domain that many of these writers have positioned their engaged and solidaristic work, articulating a discourse that holds together what is collective and what is singular in their experience.</p>
				<p>Indigenous-authored literature argues for the plurality of Indigenous identities, countering reductive and stereotyped figurations that persist across cinema, painting, literature, and the arts more broadly. From their position as writers, these authors incite resistance and struggle, highlighting strength, wisdom, and the power of the word to generate dialogue, transformation, and learning. There is therefore no justification for psychoanalysis to continue to avoid this encounter.</p>
				<p>This proposal does not minimize the challenges inherent to such engagement, including those posed by the thematic prominence of identity and others well known in Freudian texts that border on anthropology. Indeed, interest in Indigenous women and their narratives demands a careful approach, since it operates across distinct cultural frameworks and is thus vulnerable to misunderstanding.</p>
				<p>It may be assumed that the caution required contributes to the scarcity of references; however, it does not justify the omission evident within the psychoanalytic field, as assessed through databases committed to scholarship produced in Latin America. This gap is further reinforced by the lack of a controlled vocabulary that would enable this topic to be more effectively indexed and promoted beyond the limits exceeded here.</p>
				<p>In the absence of more adequate descriptors and a larger volume of publications, we explicitly acknowledge the limitations of this theoretical essay, which was grounded in an exploratory survey that did not include gray literature. Despite these constraints, we hope to encourage further immersion in this theme, also in dialogue with other disciplines, with the aim of supporting future theoretical and methodological developments.</p>
				<p>In keeping with principles established within psychoanalysis, we propose the development of studies that engage directly with the literary text or that rely on listening to these women, recognizing them as protagonists who must be considered. By rejecting the idea that theory is an obstacle to listening, our aim is not to submit them to psychoanalytic clinical practice. Rather, we defend the possibility of listening to them and thinking culture with them.</p>
				<p>For a long time, Indigenous peoples were treated only as objects of study, frequently represented in texts but rarely granted their own voice or authorship (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B33">Pachamama, 2020</xref>). Psychoanalysis has also contributed to this distortion. If, for <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B14">Freud (1933/2020b)</xref>, weaving would be a way for women to cover over lack, we identify in the loom of Graça Graúna’s words the possibility of opposing this alienating discourse, amid many others that still prevail regarding Indigenous identities.</p>
				<p>Finally, we argue that approaches to Indigenous identities may benefit from the psychoanalytic concept of semblance. While the signifier sustains an ethical encounter with alterity, the image creates possibilities for recognizing the other that exceed the reflection returned by the colonizer’s mirror. From this perspective, we hope that a psychoanalytic reading of identities will open paths for further dialogues on the directions of social life and the ethics that traverse culture, beyond the identitarian processes addressed in this discussion.</p>
				<p>For future engagements, we recommend consulting the Bibliografia das Publicações Indígenas do Brasil (Bibliography of Indigenous Publications in Brazil), created by Aline Franca, Daniel Munduruku, and Thúlio Gomes. This collaborative initiative compiles a list of Brazilian Indigenous authors and their publications in books, theses, and dissertations. In response to the exclusionary parameters produced by the canon, this repository not only aggregates Indigenous-authored knowledge but also facilitates access to local Amerindian productions (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Ferreira, 2021</xref>) since traditional platforms have not developed affirmative resources that could meaningfully support such access.</p>
